In a world that changes with the speed of a mouse click, there is a school that provides children with the enduring tools they will need to learn, thrive, and succeed . . .
Our core principles of Reason, Responsibility, and Respect are more than just words on a logo – they are ingrained in everything we do and form the foundation of our students’ success . . .

In a school where every child is treated as an individual, our students out-score their peers in the Eastern Panhandle and the rest of West Virginia by 15-20% in math and reading according to state WESTEST results . . .

Leslie Steeley appointed Head of School

Long-time teacher and school advocate Leslie Steeley has been appointed Head of The Country Day School.

“I am very excited to continue serving the school in this permanent leadership role. I am surrounded by a fantastic team of teachers and staff members, all of whom are dedicated to providing our students with the best education possible in the Eastern Panhandle,” said Steeley.

Steeley was appointed during the Board of Directors Strategic Planning Meeting held recently. Steeley has taught at the school for the past six years and has been serving as Interim Head of School since June.

“Leslie has done a tremendous job since taking over the reins in June,” said Board President Kirk Bottner. “She is well-respected by the students, staff and teachers at school, as well as the community at large. We could not be more pleased."

Steeley has a BA in Elementary Education K-8 and a Pre K-K Endorsement from Shepherd University and a Masters in Elementary Education from West Virginia University. She has taught Junior Kindergarten and First Grade at the school where she also has served as a mentor to other teachers. Steeley lives in Charles Town with her husband, Kevin, and three children, all of whom have attended or are attending Country Day School.
