Admissions Procedures and Policy

  • Each applicant will be given formal consideration after the application form and application fee have been submitted to the School, and after the student and a parent are interviewed by the Head of School.
  • All applicants will be given equal consideration, regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national or ethic origin.
  • After permission has been received from parents, the School will then request a transcript from former school(s), together with comments from appropriate school officials.
  • The School requires placement tests (cost covered by application fee) for admission to all grades. If a question arises as a result of these tests, additional or special tests may be requested at the parent's expense.
  • Should there be more applicants of equal ability than places available, priority for admission will be given to siblings of students already enrolled.
  • Applicants for admission will be accepted on the basis of ability to benefit from the schools rigorous academic program and their ability to make a positive contribution to school life. Scholarships or the need for tuition assistance is not a factor in admission decisions.
  • Candidates for tuition assistance are requested to complete an application for tuition assistance (available at the School Office) and submit this form to the Tuition Assistance Committee. There is no tuition assistance for Smart Start, Junior Kindergarten, and Kindergarten and limited assistance for other grades.
  • In as much as an important part of the School's function is the development of character and social responsibility, each student's conduct, both at school and away, concerns the School deeply. Therefore, conduct or attitudes which the Faculty considers detrimental to other students or the School may be considered grounds for requesting withdrawal without referring specific charges.
  • $500.00 is due on acceptance of student to reserve placement in the School. This amount will be applied to the tuition fee.
  • The remainder of the tuition will be collected in one of the following ways (as indicated in the Enrollment contract).
  • Full payment by July 1
  • 2 payments: 1/2 Tuition due July 1, 1/2 Tuition due December 1
  • 10 Monthly payments, July through May
  • (CDS uses F.A.C.T.S. Tuition Management Plan - an automatic payment deduction from your bank account - on the 20th of each month. All enrollees require a F.A.C.T.S form (available at the School office) and voided check, unless tuition is paid in full by July 1).
  • The School has many expenses of a continuing nature such as Faculty salaries and plant maintenance. In order that these services may be provided over the entire year, it is essential that the annual income from tuition and fees be assured. For this reason is is understood that students are enrolled for the entire academic year or that portion as may remain after the date of enrollment. The fact that school fees are payable in semi-annual, or monthly installments does not constitute a fractional contract.
  • In view of the foregoing statement, no reduction or remission of fees can be made for absence, withdrawal, or dismissal, unless enrollment is withdrawn on or before the designated date. Any exception to this rule must be approved by the Board of Directors.
  • It costs more to operate a school than is provided by tuition. The Country Day School depends on the generosity of parents and friends who care about quality education. All gifts are tax deductible. Please plan to give over and above the tuition amounts. Parents are expected to participate in the principal fund raisers of the school, i.e. Annual Giving and the Annual Auction.
