Parental Involvement

Education at CDS is a collaborative effort and a shared responsibility of the school, pupils, and parents. We expect our teachers, staff, pupils, and parents to put forth the requisite effort needed to allow maximal learning to occur in our nurturing, secure, and structured environment. This partnership is an essential ingredient to the successful education of our children.

The dedicated involvement and generosity of parents, families, students, alumni, friends, teachers, staff, and business partners help us to meet our goals and expectations. Our parents are encouraged to participate in virtually every aspect of the school. Parents usually choose to be involved in areas of interest to them. This could include such things as administrative and educational assistance, aiding the faculty in special school events, landscaping and maintaining the facilities and grounds, assisting with the lunch program, and chaperoning field trips. Students contribute to this partnership through participation in local community activities and in a tutorial program established by the Student Senate.

Like most independent schools, the cost of a child's education is not totally covered by tuition at CDS. We depend upon annual fund-raising events to provide the necessary funds, such as the Spring Auction and the Annual Giving Campaign. All contributions to the school are tax deductible.
